Organization Profile

The Organisation for Water Relief Kenyan (OWRK) is a dedicated non-governmental organization committed to transforming lives in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid lands (ASAL). Operating primarily in Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Isiolo, and Marsabit counties, OWRK focuses on providing sustainable access to clean water, promoting sanitation and hygiene, and enhancing community resilience.

Established in response to the critical water and sanitation challenges faced by ASAL communities, OWRK employs a holistic approach that combines infrastructure development, education, and emergency relief. Our programs are designed to not only meet immediate needs but also to ensure long-term sustainability and community empowerment.

Major/Core Programmatic Areas

Northern and Eastern Kenya, covering about two-thirds of the country’s land and receiving less than 250mm of rainfall annually, are considered arid regions. Despite these challenges, OWRK has developed significant opportunities to make a positive impact in these arid regions. Below are our main areas of focus:

Our Reach

OWRK’s humanitarian and development intervention programs are holistic, people-centered, community-based, and sustainable. Therefore, sustainable livelihoods approaches are adopted for all OWRK strategic and short-term program focus in ASAL regions.

Year by year, with your support, we have expanded our work. This is how we changed the story.
